Pertama kali mendengar lagu ini akhir 2014, saat mengerjakan tugas kelompok bersama teman-teman kampus di study room University Hall. Salah dua dari mereka sedang patah hati, dan mau tidak mau kami harus memaklumi bagaimana mereka bercerita lewat daftar putar lagunya. Ya saya menyebutnya bercerita, karena saya pun saat sedih cenderung lebih menghayati lirik lagu daripada menikmati ritmenya. Waktu itu saya tidak tertarik dengan lagu ini, belum ‘klik’.

Dalam suasana yang berbeda, beberapa minggu kemudian Mba Dessy, teman baru saya yang tinggal di Virginia memperkenalkan PENTATONIX, group acapella yang sangat mengasyikan. Kebetulan saya menemukan lagi lagu ini dinyanyikan ulang oleh mereka.

Awal Februari saya membaca sebuah artikel di TIME tentang duo kakak beradik dari Tennessee, yang melejit setelah mengunggah lagu mereka di YouTube. ‘Boom Clap’ diaransemen dengan sangat apik oleh mereka berdua. Iseng KEPO tentang Lennon & Maisy, perhatian saya kemudian tertuju pada cara mereka menyanyikan lagu yang akhirnya menemani saya menutup bulan Januari lalu, sebuah lagu dari Robyn, Call Your Girlfriend*
